Reed Academy is a small school that services males betwen the age of seven and eighteen.  In most cases, students are accepted for admission up the age of 13.5 .

 

Our Students

Students present many educational levels and emotional needs. We will accept children with a variety of difficulties such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Aspergers, Learning Disabilities/Behavior Disorders, Obssessive Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit -Hyperactivity Disorder, Bi-polar Disorder, Depression, Tourette's, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.  We cannot accept children, whose problems include a history of: firesetting, running away, substance abuse, court-involvement, or active suicidal behavior.

Location and Facilities
Reed is located in a quiet residential area of Framingham, Massachusetts.  It is situated on two acres of land abutting 500 acres of State forest.  We are easily accessible from Routes 9, 495, 20, and the Massachusetts Turnpike.
 
Our facility is a graceful 31 room house and an Adaptive Physical Education Building.  Our residence offers a comfortable home like atmosphere for our students.  One wing of the building houses small classrooms, therapy rooms, a library, a computer room and a nurse's station.  Reed has  a large outdoor recreational space, swimming pool, basketball/volleyball court.

 
Staff
Our staff includes certified Special Education Teachers, Teacher Specialists, School Psychologist, Licensed Social Worker, Certified Mental Health Counselors, Speech Teacher, Adaptive Physical Education Instructor, Nurse, Direct Care Staff, part time Occupational Therapist, Program Coordinator and Office Staff.
 
To ensure progress and success, our average staff/student ratio is l:5.  Frequent one to one tutoring and close supervision are part of our program.
