The Therapeutic Milieu
Each child’s therapeutic program is based on his individual needs. All students are assigned their own individual therapist. Therapists hold one of the following certifications: Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Social Worker, or School Psychologist. Students participate in various forms of therapy a minimum of 4 times per week. This could include individual therapy, small group or large group sessions, and family meetings
Family Involvement
Since our ultimate goal is to return students to their own homes and schools, parental involvement is an essential part of our program. Regular weekly meetings between parents and their Family Support Professional provide opportunities to discuss problems, develop insights into the child’s behavior, and share behavioral management techniques.When deemed necessary, additional family members may be invited to participate in these sessions.
While attending Reed Academy, children remain under the care of their personal family physician, dentist, and, psycho-pharmacolgist (if necessary). No medication is dispensed without written authorization from the parent and their physician. In an emergency, children are taken to Metro West Medical Center - Framingham Campus.
