The Residential Program continues the behavioral approaches of the Reed Program. It emphasizes the importance of family living, social interaction, and basic living skills. Evenings are a quiet time when children can play in small groups, take field trips, do homework, visit our library, or work on individual projects. A vital part of each child’s day is fulfilling his responsibility as a member of the Reed Academy community. All children have chores to perform, such as making their beds and assisting in meal preparation. The residential staff consists of a Director and Direct Care Counselors. Our staff/student ratio is based on the needs of our students and the time of the day. After School ProgramThe After-School Program runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. This program continues the therapeutic and social goals of the child’s Educational Plan. While participating in low-key, well structured and supervised activities, the student learns how to behave appropriately in various settings. The major focus of this program is the growth of social interaction skills.
