Reed's 766 Approved Academic Program
The academic day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.  Each child's program is based on an Individualized Educational Program.  Classes are small, highly structured, with a typical teacher/pupil ratio of 1:5.  All our students have access to the general curriculum based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.

Areas of Concentration
The primary goal of the school program is to provide the child with a safe, comfortable, highly structured academic setting; to allow the child to gain confidence in his academic abilities, and to work on socialization skills, including peer relationships.  Reading, Language Arts, Literature, Math, History, and Social Studies are taught each day.  Science, Pragmatics,Sensory Motor Activities, Art, Cooking, Adaptive Physical Education, Health, as well as a Learning Center and a Computer Program are part of every student's weekly schedule.  The school uses an hourly Behavior Modification approach.  Specific rewards and behavior goals are determined for each individual student.  Detailed reports on a student's progress are sent to parents quarterly.  These reports can be followed up with a Parent/Teacher Meeting—which should be scheduled in advance through the Family Service Worker.
